Open Surgery
We run an open access surgery each weekday morning from
8.30 am to 10.00am. We will see everyone who arrives
between these times. We normally see people in order
of arrival, however if someone is very unwell we will
see them as soon as possible. The open surgery is particularly
useful for acute problems but it can be very busy and
you will probably need to wait to be seen, so for more
complex problems or prescription reviews it is better
to book an appointment so that we can have more protected
time with you.
Appointment
Surgeries
We run appointment surgeries most days from 8.30 am
and at various times through the day. Please leave the
earliest morning appointments and later evening appointments
for people who are working. We also have some appointments
that are reserved for urgent problems each day, but
most appointments can be booked up to 6 weeks in advance.
Our blood specimens go to the lab each lunchtime, this
means that we cannot take blood tests on a Friday evening
as they will deteriorate over the weekend. If you think
you might need any blood tests try to avoid booking
for Friday evening.
Repeat prescription checks and chronic disease monitoring
We organise separate clinics for patients with diabetes
and chronic obstructive airways disease. We will send
patients appointments for these. Repeat prescription
monitoring for other medical conditions will normally
be done by the nurses and doctors during normal appointment
clinics.
Home
Visits
We can see many more people in the surgery in the time
it takes us to do most home visits. We do not have access
to the same facilities and equipment in people’s
homes. Please ask for a home visit only if your condition
means you cannot attend the surgery. Please ring before
10am if you need a home visit so that we can organise
our day efficiently. If you develop serious medical
symptoms during the day however we will always try to
see you. Phone reception initially.
Repeat
Prescriptions
If you take medication on a long term basis, you can request
a repeat prescription by either telephoning the surgery,
calling at reception or with the following web link. Please
keep the left side of the prescription form as it has
a list of your medicines. It will also let you know when
you need to come for a review appointment so that we can
check your medical condition and current treatment. Please
give us 48 hours to process your requests and dispense
the medication. It is Department Of Health policy to normally
give 1 months treatment at a time. have link to on line
ordering (to organise, preferably one sheet paper print
off)
