Online Consultations

If you need to seek advice about a non-emergency medical problem, you can now use our Online Consultation process.

Click on the online consult page to find advice about your condition and to send further information to your doctor about your symptoms.

The doctor can then triage this information and contact you to give you advice or arrange a suitable consultation or investigations.

This system links the information you provide directly to your medical records.

This is an efficient and secure way of contacting your doctor without the need for a telephone call or pre-booking a consultation slot. It ensures that you get the advice you need at the right time.

•The GP will aim to respond to your query within 2 working days.

•You must be over 16 to use this service, although you may use this service to contact the practice about a person you care for who is under 16.

•You must be registered as a patient with The Croft Surgery.

•You must be currently living in the UK.

COVID19 – update on our services

We have adapted the way that our appointment system works in order to allow for social distancing in the building for patients and staff.

We are still providing care for patients who are unwell. Do not hesitate to get in touch for advice if you have a medical problem.

If you need to see a doctor or nurse, please telephone and initially you will be booked for a telephone consultation. You may be offered a video consultation.

Your doctor or nurse will speak to you to find out more about your problem, ask about other symptoms that you might be experiencing and then may book you a face to face appointment at the surgery if that is what is needed.

When you arrive, please do not enter the building; ring reception or knock at the door. A member of staff will let you in and you will go through for your consultation. Appointment slots have been spaced to minimise waiting time.

Currently we are not booking patients for any of the following:

  • routine 3 or 5 yearly cervical screening
  • asthma reviews – these can be done with an nurse over the telephone or via a SMS service
  • COPD annual reviews – a telephone consultation with the nurse can be arranged
  • many routine blood tests – you will be contacted by telephone, SMS or letter if these are required
  • diabetic reviews
  • IUD checks and removals

If you have a smartphone, please make sure we have an up to date number; some consultations can be done via video consultation.

Our telephone lines are very busy at present; thank you for your patience.

Messages sent via our website contact form are checked daily, but urgent medical queries and prescription orders MUST NOT be made in this way. This form is for general questions.

If you have an email address, please sign up to our Patient Access service. This makes prescription ordering available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is a safer way of dealing with medication orders. It also reduces pressure on our capacity for telephone calls in and out of the surgery.

These operating conditions will be in place for the foreseeable future but please check our website or Facebook Page for updates.

Feedback from April 2020

This has been a strange month under the COVID19 health emergency. We have been seeing fewer patients in the usual face-to-face way. Thank you for taking time to reply to our feedback surveys.
