We are changing some of our prescription policies.
Many patients will not be aware of the high cost to the NHS of providing and dispensing some basic prescription items –up to £35 just to process a paracetamol prescription.
Many of these can be obtained easily and inexpensively over the counter in chemists and supermarkets.
To support our local NHS self-care agenda, we are encouraging our patients to buy their paracetamol when it is required.
