The Green Impact Project

Patients might be interested to learn that we are trying to become a more environmentally sustainable practice!

At the beginning of this journey we are looking at our product purchasing to incorporate more ethical choices and reducing our waste.

This practice is delighted to be signed up to the Green Impace for Health Toolkit and we are actively taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint.

The climate emergency is also a health emergency. Healthcare in the UK contributes to 5.4% of the UK’s carbon emissions.
We need to enhance the health of our current population without compromising the health of future generations – and these means operating within the sustainable boundaries of the planet.

Fortunately most of the solutions for the planet also make our health better – for example moving to a more plant-based diet, engaging in active travel and exercise in nature, avoiding smoking and reducing pollution etc which all enhance our health AND reduce the need for medications. In turn this benefits the NHS, your health and the carbon footprint of healthcare.

If you have any suggestions about how we can move towards this goal we would love to hear from you.
