Front Desk Triaging

When patients ring the surgery to make an appointment, reception staff will ask for some basic information in order to direct the patient to the most appropriate clinician.

The most important reason for this is to to make sure a patient who has an urgent healthcare need can be seen quickly or that emergency action can be taken immediately if necessary.

This also helps us to ensure all patients are booked into an appropriate appointment slot. This could be with a nurse, GP or Healthcare Assistant and be a telephone call or a face-to-face appointment.

We understand that some patients may be uncomfortable discussing some problems. If they tell us that it is a personal or private matter, we will seek no further information.
