Reviewing patient lists

we have not posted about this since 2021.

Since the pandemic there have been changes in healthcare provision lead to an influx of new patients to our practice that live in close proximity to the surgery.

Over the years we have tried to remain flexible with our boundaries however the doctors feel that the quality of patient care and safety is compromised by having patients living many miles from the surgery.

We cover an extensive rural area which includes several new housing developments- and this is why adhering to this zone has become increasingly important.

We are reviewing our patient list and we are in the process of contacting patients who live outside our boundary. They will be asked to register at a practice closer to their home.

We know that some patients we are contacting about this have been with the practice for many years but patient safety for all remains the over-riding priority.

For practical purposes we usually now use the bypass (Carlisle Northern Relief Road) to mark our eastern limit and the Wigton bypass as our southern boundary. Abbeytown is our furthest point to the west.

Any patients now living in Wigton, Carlisle and Thursby should take steps to register with a closer GP.

This website has a handy tool to locate your closest GP.
